Muv Luv Alternative Chronicles: A number of short side stories. Episodic Visual Novels (so far 4 episodes, not sure if there will be more), part of the Muv Luv Alternative Chronicles games. The Day After: Alternate scenario of what happens in the Unlimited timeline after everything goes to shit (all the other side stories are set in the Alternative timeline). Originally Light Novels, adapted into an Anime & two Visual Novels: first half released in November 2015, second half planned for release in 2016 (no exact date). Schwarzesmarken: Side story focused on the East German 666th TSF Squad in 1983. one guy building his harem (if I am to be exaggerate).

The anime is usually not too appreciated by the ML community except for the two first episodes because of the very different vibe it gives compared to the main series, as the focus is less on survival and more on. Takes place in 2001 right before Muv Luv & Muv Luv Alternative.

Originally Light Novels, adapted into Manga/Anime and has a Visual Novel as conclusion of the series (the Visual Novel is not a stand-alone here). Total Eclipse: Side story focused on TSF test-pilots. Now, if you are still here, I hope you already read Muv Luv & Muv Luv: Alternative (ML & ML:A) Oh, should I still play the game if I already know X / watched Y? It just assumes you read the main story). ML & ML:A play a lot on the genre switch and the unexpected happening, and while it does not ruin the game to know a few things from what you may have read / seen here and there, it will lower the impact in the long run.Д«asically your read order should be Muv Luv => Muv Luv Alternative => Everything else (since most other stories are side stories, there is no order afterwards. The game is best when you are not aware of what that whole universe is.

The games take place in 2001.Д«efore reading or watching anything else, read Muv Luv & Muv Luv: Alternative. The STEAM / VITA will likely be 17+ due to regulations, so removal of sex scenes (almost none are plot relevant, but I hope they'll handle well the few that are). Note: The original VN is 18+ due to sexual / gory scenes. Kickstarter estimated Muv Luv in March 2016 and Alternative in August 2016 (PC), VITA version in October 2016. Visual Novels, originally available fan-translated but soon to be on Steam & VITA as well. Muv Luv (Extra & Unlimited) & Muv Luv Alternative are the main story, basically what started the whole Muv Luv universe.

With the Schwarzesmarken anime being aired now, I saw quite a few people being a little confused as to what to read / watch first, so I thought I would post something similar to what /r/fatestaynight has.
